Privacy Policy
In short
- Easy Doc Scanner works entirely on your device. It has no internet permission, so it cannot send your documents, photos or any other information to us or to anyone else.
- We do not collect, store, sell or share any personal data. There are no accounts, ads, analytics, tracking or crash-reporting services in the app.
- Your scans stay in the app’s own storage on your phone, and are excluded from cloud backup and device-to-device transfer.
- Files leave the app only when you choose to save them to your Downloads folder or share them with another app.
1. Who we are
Easy Doc Scanner (the “app”, package name com.bagani.easydocscanner) is developed and published on Google Play by Sobeasy (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, contact us at sobeasyforu@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
We do not collect any personal or sensitive information. The app has no internet permission and no server, so nothing you scan, type or store in the app is ever transmitted to us. We cannot see your documents, and we have no copy of them.
3. Information the app handles on your device
To work, the app processes the following information. All of it stays on your device and is used only to provide the features you use.
| Information | Why the app uses it | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Camera images you capture | To detect the page edges, crop and straighten the page, and improve its readability | App storage on your device |
| Photos you choose to import | To turn a photo you pick into a scanned page | A copy is kept in app storage on your device |
| Scanned pages, document names, folders, favourites, dates, ID card layouts | To show and organise your documents | App storage and a local database on your device |
| Signatures you draw or import | To place a signature on a page you are editing | Added into that page on your device |
| App Lock PIN (optional) | To lock the app and your Private documents | Only a salted, one-way hash of the PIN is stored, in encrypted storage protected by your device’s hardware Keystore. The PIN itself is never stored. |
| Fingerprint or face unlock (optional) | To unlock the app | Handled entirely by Android. The app only receives a “success” or “failure” result and never has access to your biometric data. |
| App settings (for example, whether you have seen the welcome screens, how many documents you have saved and when the app last asked for a rating) | To remember your preferences and to avoid showing the rating prompt too often | Settings storage on your device |
All image processing (edge detection, cropping, perspective correction, enhancement, compression and PDF creation) runs on your device using open-source libraries (OpenCV and PDFBox) that work offline.
4. Permissions
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Camera | To photograph documents and ID cards when you open the scanner. The camera is never used in the background. |
| Biometric / fingerprint | Only if you turn on fingerprint or face unlock for App Lock. |
| View network state | Added automatically by a standard Android library. The app does not use it and has no permission to access the internet. |
Importing photos uses Android’s Photo Picker, which gives the app access only to the photos you select. The app does not request access to your photo library, contacts, location, microphone or files.
5. When files leave the app (only when you choose)
- Save to Downloads: when you tap Save, the PDF or JPG is saved to the
Download/Easy Doc Scannerfolder on your device. Files there can be seen by you, by your file manager and by other apps that have permission to read your files. They are not removed if you uninstall the app. - Share: when you tap Share, Android’s share sheet sends the file to the app you pick (for example email, WhatsApp or a cloud drive). From then on, that file is handled under the privacy policy of the app you chose, not this one.
- Password protection: you can optionally protect an exported PDF with a password. The password is used only to encrypt that PDF on your device and is not stored by the app.
We never share, sell, rent or trade any information with third parties, because we never receive any.
6. Google Play services used by the app
- In-app rating (Google Play In-App Review): after you have saved a few documents, the app may occasionally ask Google Play to show its standard rating window, at most once every few months. That window is shown and run by the Google Play Store app. If you leave a rating or review, it is processed by Google under the Google Privacy Policy. The app does not see whether or how you rated it, and no document or personal information is sent from the app.
- Rate / Share app / Privacy Policy links in Settings: these open the Google Play Store, Android’s share sheet or your web browser. Anything you do there is handled by those apps and websites.
The app does not contain advertising, analytics, Firebase, crash-reporting or any other tracking software, and it does not use the advertising ID.
7. How your information is protected
- Scans and app data are kept in the app’s own storage, which Android keeps separate from other apps. Android’s device encryption protects it when your phone is locked.
- App data is excluded from Google cloud backup and from device-to-device transfer, so your scans are not copied off your phone by the system.
- Optional App Lock (PIN, fingerprint or face) protects the app, and Private documents are hidden until you unlock them.
- When you delete a scan in the app, its image file is overwritten with random data before it is removed, to make recovery more difficult.
No method of storage is completely secure. Please also keep your device protected with a screen lock.
8. Keeping and deleting your data
- Your documents stay on your device until you delete them.
- You can delete any page, document or folder inside the app at any time.
- Uninstalling the app permanently removes all scans and data stored inside the app. Because backup is turned off, this data cannot be restored afterwards. Save or share any documents you want to keep before uninstalling.
- Files you saved to the
Download/Easy Doc Scannerfolder, or shared to other apps, are not removed by uninstalling. You can delete them with your file manager or the app you shared them to.
Because we do not hold any of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side. You remain in full control of your data on your device.
9. Children’s privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13 and is intended for general use. It does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information at all.
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK), the CCPA (California) or India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 give you rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you. We do not collect or hold any personal data about you. All information handled by the app is on your own device and under your control. For any privacy question or request, email sobeasyforu@gmail.com and we will respond.
11. Summary for Google Play “Data safety”
Data collected: None. Data shared with third parties: None. All processing happens on your device. Files are shared only when you choose to share them.
12. Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app changes how information is handled (for example, by adding an online feature), we will update this policy before that version is released and change the “Last updated” date above. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent first. Significant changes will also be described in the app’s Google Play release notes.
